Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Time: 02/07/2012 @ 09:30 am - 11:00 am
Location: RSY Surya Room
Class: Vinyasa Flow Yoga
This class will keep you moving from beginning to end (until Savasana). Expect movement, not just stretching. All levels are welcome to practice to your level of expertise. The word 'Vinyasa' means "breath-synchronized movment". In other words, you will move from one pose to the next as you continue to breathe your exhales and inhales. This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow, or just Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. Vinyasa's strength is in its diversity, so there is a lot of room for your individual self to shine through.

Dawna Bennett has been practicing and teaching yoga since 2000. She loves yoga and the pulse that is ignited by the practice.

She is an Anusara-inspired Yoga Teacher having trained and studied with John Friend, Sianna Sherman and Douglas Brooks who have each gifted her with grace! Through their teachings she has learned that every single turn of events, however dark or disturbing the outcome, can, in some circuitous way, be the raw material for something that eventually surfaces with the sweetness of honey, the poetry of transformation, and the gift of appreciating life. She has had other amazing teachers...too many to list here.

Currently, her full-time job is teaching Nutrition and Wellness at The University of Phoenix. She has an MS in Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University and has devoted the past 13 years to becoming proficient at nutrition education while teaching yoga. Teaching Nutrition and Yoga continues to be her passion and privilege.

But her greatest joy has been raising her two beautiful children...Abigail, her brilliant 13 year old daughter and Jackson, her terrific 11 year old son.

Dawna teaches her students to enjoy what they are doing and step into a self-awareness conversation that evokes greatness within.
