Going Raw
Recently Kathy and I explored a raw food class at the Lake Plaine Organic
Farm. The information
presented
on the health benefits of eating raw food seemed logical and sensible.
Second hand testimonies from those with remarkable healing experiences added
to the persuasion for raw. The icing on the cake though was the incredible
raw dishes that were provided as samples. One dish, pesto pasta was prepared
before our eyes in just a few minutes and really knocked our socks off. Even
our seven year old was delighted with the taste. The deserts were mouth
watering and the green drink was like drinking a smoothie.
We have considered going 100% raw, but
what we have found is just adding a raw meal a day and to eat raw at other
meals when it is convenient, (maybe a salad here or there), has proved to be
really beneficial. Eating raw we have experienced increased energy,
alertness, improved digestion and elimination, and an overall greater sense
of well-being. I know your probably thinking raw food plain and boring,
salads, cut up vegetables, some fruit, but actually there are tons of
recipes where the raw foods are combined in ways that you won’t believe
there raw and so tasty.
The big advantage of raw is that you
are eating food that is alive. The live enzymes in the food, which are
destroyed when cooked, aid in digestion and your body absorbs more of the
nutrients from your food. The more energy you receive from your food the
healthier your body becomes. Most processed foods, those that come in a box
or can, actually decrease your body energy to process them. Adding just one
raw meal a day can be easier than you think.
Remember that green drink I mentioned
that taste like a smoothie. Make this the first meal of your day you are
well ahead of the game. It is easy and fun to make. In a blender combine ½
cup of water, ½ cup of fruit, and 1 bunch of greens of your choice, add a
little natural sweetener, honey or agave nectar work great, blend till
smooth. You can get creative with these drinks using different combinations
of fruits, greens, and sweeteners.
I also stumbled across a great website
www.rawfoodadvantage.com which you will want to check out. The home page
provides a slide show of amazing mouth watering raw dishes, they have a 24
hour hot line for questions about going raw and the products you might
consider to help with raw food preparation, plus tons of other information.
It is worth a visit to the site just for the slide show. I hope you check it
out and give raw a chance.
So go ahead; eat it raw,

Hi everyone….it’s Nancy!
 I
wanted to take some time to thank the Rising Sun Community for the love
and support that I’ve received over the past 4 years or so.
Especially…hmmm all of you! But especially, Jim Pero and his wife Kathy
and his family. Guess what? If it wasn't for their pioneering spirits, all
of us may not have had the opportunity to cross paths and grow and be
inspired to live our Truths!
Like many of us, I’ve acknowledged much growth in my life, head on even in
the face of fear…I still do in fact. It is in “all” experiences that I
find the most beauty in just BEing myself and mySelf. If I’m scared, I
will say so…if I’m happy it will show; and most of you have literally seen
my bad hair days...smile...to the wild child part of my nature without
reservation. Anyway, all aspects that make up my character are put into a
well-cushioned, contemplative perspective that reveal and birth genuine
opportunities in Divine time. I sense I’m on a creative lifeflow adventure
that is directed by a sunlit path home to Truth – which is my idea of
uniting with God/True Nature. On my path, a new wonder gave birth…my new
business/service venture: Creative Lifeflow. Creative Lifeflow services
include: Colon Hydrotherapy, Yoga, and Reiki.
Let me give you a brief overview of what each service is:
Colon Hydrotherapy:
In times past, knowledge of the bowel was more common, and people were
taught how to care for the bowel. Somehow, bowel wisdom has been lost, and
the bowel has become a subject about which no one wants to talk about. By
hiding the issue in the closet, people have created an “out-of-sight”,
“out-of-mind” situation. Thus, many people have created the path of
ignorance and improper living.
Simply put, if you’re not going, you’re not glowing! Smile and have
compassion for yourself, we’re all in it together. It’s universal and
epidemic for most people to be bought into the program of bowel disorders.
If you’re having any bowel or digestive disorders, please don’t be shy
about this procedure it is very gentle and discreet. Colon hydrotherapy,
is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the large intestine,
without the use of drugs. By introducing filtered and temperature
regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened,
resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis. This process is
repeated a few times during a session.

Yoga: (for class descriptions please see the class descriptions on
the website, etc)
Restorative and Reiki
Prenatal
Hip Openers
Lifeflow Yoga (shamanic and rhythmic yoga dance)
Basic and Intermediate classes
Reiki Session:
In my own opinion, people are craving to be touched in a loving and
genuine way. The ancient science of Reiki, developed by Dr. Usui, is the
art of activating, directing, and applying the “Universal Life Force
Energy” to balance and heal ourselves and others. The healing power of
Reiki works on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual planes.

Support Our Troops
I
spent six years in the service, friends of mine have served in Iraq, and I
have great compassion for all those fighting our wars in the Middle East.
I love America, and think highly of our freedoms to speak and worship as
we choose. So far as I know this is the greatest country on earth, but
when I hear the slogan and see the ribbons, “Support Our Troops”, I feel
we must really question how.
The over whelming evidence of weapons of mass
destruction that the US brought to the United Nations has proved to be a
myth. The claims that Saddam Hussein was supporting the terrorist that
attacked the World Trade Center have proved to be false too. We have
watched other countries in Africa commit much worse atrocities on people
than Saddam on his countrymen with no military intervention. Recent
published reports from the Bush Administrations’ own studies on terror
proves that our efforts to fight terror have only escalated the amount of
terrorist acts committed since 9/11. This is evidence that violence begets
violence, but I’m sure it does not consoles the 20,000 coalition fighters,
mostly US troops, that have been injured and the loved ones of over 2900
that have been killed.
So why have we sacrificed more lives in this war on
terror then we lost in the horrible attack on 9/11, (War
deaths in Iraq, Afghanistan equal 9/11 toll,
September 24, 2006,
BY CALVIN WOODWARD Associated Press)?
What reason is there for Americans families to give up their children? Is
supporting the war efforts really supporting our troops?
In the movie Iraq For Sale, interviews from lead
personnel from corporations that are accumulating massive profits from
government contracts to provide our troops with water to drink and shower
say that these companies are aware that most of the water is contaminated
with parasites and disease but allow the troops to continue to use it
without warning them. They also point out that corporations brought in to
feed the troops, also reaping huge profits from our tax dollars, are
putting our troops at risk of attack by having them all eat together at
fixed times and stand in line for hours to get fed. So the corporations
hired with our tax dollars aren’t choosing our troops over profits. Our
government has sacrificed the lives and health of tens of thousands of our
children and counting, for unclear reasons. Yet, we are encouraged to
support our troops. Just how should we do this?
Bewildered? Not sure what actions to take to support
our troops. Let me offer a few paths. First if you have the volition to
politic, you must lobby and or protest for the end of war. If your not the
lobbing type, at least spread the word, about the improper care of our
troops. Talk about what is happening to help increase public awareness.
Stop supporting propaganda that spreads fear and supports war and
violence. Something and probably the most powerful thing that you can do
is to meditate and pray for peace and for the health and safety of the
144,000 troops in Iraq.
