A hundred hearts would be too few to carry all my love for you. ~Author Unknown
Happy Valentines Day

February's Focus on Love

With Valentines Day falling in February we are reminded of falling in love or to focus our attention on that special loved one in our life. Maybe you are falling in love or in love right now. If it has been a long time since you’ve felt that love in your life I invite you to go back to the time when you recall feeling that way. Please don’t get caught up in any possible pain or judgment of the relationship or what might have gone wrong, just take a moment to remember the energy that you can remember having, the incredible feelings of lightness or aliveness you experienced. What comes to mind when you look at your life in love?

Maybe you did something amazing, a great feet that proved your love using your super human energy. Did you notice that when you are lit up in love the chances of someone else suddenly attracted to you greatly increase? You feel better than usual, tend to sing more, and smile more authentically than normal. People comment on a glow about you and you feel on top of the world. Can you put yourself there? Even for a moment can you take yourself to the intensity of the love energy? Can you connect into the love feeling of light and happiness?

If you took yourself back to the love energy just now, then you may agree with me that you can decide to be present with love energy whether you ascribe it to another person or not. With fewer words, you can decide to be in love. Eventually, whether the relationship works out or not we tend to fall out of the love and the love energy slowly dissipates. If you take your focus off the love energy it slowly goes away.

_____________________

My observations of life lead me to believe that we only spend time in the love energy for short periods of time. New relationships, jobs, babies or a spiritual experience can all take us there or maybe we decide to go to our love energy in those moments. Is a relationship in all of it’s dynamics even more exciting each new day?

Does your job light you up each morning with an anticipation of utilizing your creativity? Isn’t your child at any age always looked at with the same unconditional love as when you first held him or her in your arms and they gazed back with the same unconditional love. Are you always expecting the next miracle in your life, a new way to be of service, or to stay present to the Bhakti, devotional love of the creator? If you’re not in your love energy right now what is keeping you from being there? Could it be nothing more than your decision? If you could chose whether or not to live in the love energy; feeling better, alive, aglow, present, dynamic, or more. Would you not choose too?

Well this February of 2006 if you want to give it a try let, every heart you see, I love you that you read, smile you receive, and Happy Valentine’s Day you hear remind you to be in your love energy. Tell someone, better yet everyone that you love them, or at least think it. I suggest that you don’t ascribe this energy to any one or anything other than your decision to be awaken to it.

I love you,

      Jim

Gearing Up For Your Health

Our own local organic farmer Mary LaFrance is gearing up for another season of providing locally grown fruits and vegetables. Mary has been in practicing yoga to get in shape for the next growing season. She is selecting the right seeds for the crops that she will soon start in her basement utilizing heating pads and artificial light. Mary has also started a crop of greens in the hoop house and will have fresh greens soon. We are hoping to have fresh locally grown organic greens available at Rising Sun Yoga as early as this spring, but back to Mary. On top of being committed to farming organic foods and protecting the few remaining natural Michigan prairies, Mary stays on top of the battle between corporate vs. organic farming and does her part to protect our food sources.

We joined Mary’s Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) last season and really benefited from the abundance of crops the farm produced. Some of our favorites were the watermelons, strawberries, and broccoli. The CSA properly named the Lakeplain Prairie Organic Farm hosts classes on topics including natural pesticides/fertilizers, nutrition, cooking, and canning. Kick off, pool, and fall harvest parties served to promote the community aspect of the farm and provided a source of networking for those caring about healthy life styles. Kids had their own area to grow crops, a sand box, and swing set to keep busy while parents helped work the fields.

On top of the money we saved during the growing season June thru November last year, we also learned many things about growing organics, and made new friends. The experience was an overall boon to our whole family and we anxiously look forward to the benefits of joining the CSA for the 2006 growing season.

If you would like to learn more about the Lakeplain Prairie Organic Farm visit www.lakeplaincsa.com or call Mary at 734-789-1164.

Passionate Pedaling

My recent articles on biking seem to have inspired some people to get on there bikes and ride. Hurray for all of you. I’m sure many more will be pedaling as the spring weather approaches and gas prices remain inflated. I have to admit that after writing the article on living your passionate, I have found myself behind the wheel of a car way more than I care to be. A few times travel by bike wasn’t reasonable due to time constraints and the others were when I needed to transport more than I can carry on my bike. Thus, the need for a bike trailer.

I have been total inspired by this coffee company Peace Coffey which encourages you to, “brew the right bean”. Not only do they sell fair trade coffee from environmentally friendly organic shade grown small farmers, they boost an exceptional brew. Plus, when they can, they deliver the coffee by bike. Check out this uphill climb with a trailer loaded with coffee. You can check out more photos of there bike deliveries and learn about there company and product by visiting, www.peacecoffee.com. We hope to be carrying Peace Coffee soon.

If you are considering biking as an alternative way of life I encourage you to visit my friend Chris at Roll Models in Allen Park. Look for his business card on the schedule page of this newsletter or visit his website at www.rollmodelscycling.com. Chris will examine your biking needs and fit you to the best bike for the riding that you want to do. Or if your bike needs service, Chris is there for you when you need him and has always been more than fair with the cost.

Now for most of your short trips around town you probably won’t need a trailer. But you will want to get used to carrying a backpack. You would be amazed at what you can fit in some of them. Small item goods from your neighborhood health food store, like Total Health in Southgate for example, are very doable for half to three quarters of a grocery bag full. Burn less fuel, breathe fresh air, get in shape, feel great ride a bike.

Peace,

Jim

Meditation Underground

As we approach the maturity of our 4th year of providing the downriver area with alternatives to wellness, there seems to be an underground movement of meditation forming. While we actually offered meditation when we first opened, there was little if any response to it. Another meditation class formed about our two-year point that started to do well, but then the instructor moved out of the country. Today it looks like there is just one meditation class on our schedule. Truth be told there 4 classes currently offering 30 minute meditations. More and more people are hearing of the benefits trying meditation and continuing with it since the benefits keep coming. You can find meditation classes on Monday evenings for free at 6:45pm. The 5:30am classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings include an optional 30 minute meditation and the same is true of Micha’s 6:00pm class on Fridays. Why meditation is lurking below the surface remains a mystery. But I suggest that if you would like to find out what is lurking below your surface, make your way to the underground.

Om,
       Jim
