Recipe For Holiday Delight

Once again the holiday season is upon us. Some of you are elated with joy and others have a count down to the 26th anticipating Christmas passing. Some of us are singing carols to get into the spirit and others are battling depression. Whatever your state of mind I would like to share a recipe sure to pick you up by the boot straps and keep you from the doldrums of depression or send you rocketing to new heights. The best part is there are only three ingredients to make this happen. The tough part is keeping the ingredients in the bowl of your mind and to continue stirring them into application. But with a little tapas (discipline) and faith your success is guaranteed. Are you ready to start cooking?

The first thing we’ll add to the pot is a glimpse of infinite possibility. Take a minute to look around you, (if you can get outside or away to a little nature this works all the better), to everything your eyes reflect on your mind see the source of all creation. Add this component slowly and all the way to the top. Your looking to see a power greater than yourself in all things. If you’re struggling with this one it may help to think of an invisible omnipotent glue holding all things together. Again take your time adding slowly. Contemplate the magnitude and masterful intelligence of the design of the smallest things and the largest things from tiny microbes to the cosmos. If your eyes water, tear, or stream with joy your on the right track. Don’t worry about having enough room fill completely. Like pouring water into a jar full of rocks there is plenty of room for the second element.

“Immersed in the infinite and love, everyday will be more delightful.”

Now we will top off your mind container with love. Begin to deepen your breath imagining each inhale filling your heart with more and more love. When the heart begins to overflow with love imagine a tube running to your mind and saturating it completely. Think and act now with unconditional love. Immersed in the infinite and love, everyday will be more delightful. You cannot consume to much so have multiple bowls each day as needed.

What about the third ingredient you ask? This one will be sprinkled as needed: Forgiveness. Use as needed anytime you slip back to your old mind habits. Forget to see the divine design in something or to think/act with love. It’s okay sprinkle with forgiveness and enjoy another bowl of holiday delight. Let each day bring you the joy of enlightened consciousness.

Many Blessings,

Ji m

Karma Yoga News ~December ‘06

Aloha,

Jessica here, wanting to thank all of you so much for bringing in art supplies for the children of COTS. I was really surprised and elated at the response! Unity is the key to helping those in need. I delivered all the items to COTS on Halloween; the staff at COTS were very thankful and appreciative of your kindness. So, thank you again and let’s keep the ball rolling!

Last month was the Walk-Against Homelessness. It was a cold and dreary day and it was also the UM vs. OS football game, so as it ended up, I was going to be the only one there. However, we ended up raising $100 in pledges for www.HANDetroit.org .

This month we have adopted a family. The family consists of a single mom with 4 children ages ranging from 4 to 14 years. The family was previously homeless but has managed to get back on their feet and now has a permanent home. When individuals or families find them selves homeless and in COTS and are then able to go to permanent housing they are given 1 year worth of services and support from COTS. This is why there are on the Adopt-a-family list. We are asking for your help in making their Christmas brighter by donating the following items:

1. 3 pairs adult size mittens/gloves,

2. 2 pairs of women’s shoes and or boots size 9

3. women’s shoes and or boots size 7

4. boys shoes and or boots size 5

5. girls packaged underwear size 5/6 and 7/8

6. boys packaged underwear size 10

7. ladies packaged underwear size 16 or L

8. ladies packaged underwear size S

9. educational toys for children ages 14, 12, 10 and 4

Please bring your items prior to December 15th or on this date for our first Charity Club/Karma Yoga meeting at 6:30 pm at Rising Sun Yoga. The items should be new (underwear) or in excellent condition. Most of us have the luxury of buying new things all the time. Our adopted family does not. There will be a list up at the Rising Sun as well. If we have extras, great! I know that other people of COTS will benefit from your generosity. You may also bring in blankets, canned food or unused travel toiletries.

15 minute miracle:

- Check on your elderly or home bound neighbors. During the winter months sidewalks get icy. Offer to shovel snow and deice their porches and sidewalks or just drop in for a chat.

Just for kids:

- This is the time for Toys for Tots! Bring you child or children along on a shopping trip to pick out a toy for children in need. There are donation boxes all around the city. It’ll make them feel special knowing they helped a child just like them.

1 T extra virgin olive oil

Juice of ½ lemon

¼ t oregano

¼ c unsulfered sun dried tomatoes

¼ c raw or sun dried (which are raw) olives

“Tuna” Salad Anyone?

Now Available At Rising Sun Yoga
Michigan Harvest

Michigan Harvest is a proprietary blend of sweet cherry, blackberry, blueberry and apple chosen to maximize the ORAC* score while producing a flavor filled juice drink boost. Most high antioxidant drinks use fruits from far away places in an attempt to maximize antioxidant score. At Sol Resource we created a high antioxidant drink made with fruits grown right here in the state of Michigan. A single ounce of Michigan Harvest provides you with half of your daily recommended antioxidant intake.

*ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity) measures the antioxidant activity of a substance.

Cherry Harvest

American Premium Blends is proud to present Cherry Harvest. Cherry harvest is a combination of tart and sweet cherry blended in such a way to maximize benefits while providing a surprisingly refreshing taste. Cherry Harvest is all natural with no preservatives, added sugar or color. This is cherry juice the way nature intended delicious and nutritious. Tart and sweet cherry juice are both excellent sources of anthocyanins, a family of antioxidants that give cherries their bright color but also may play a critically important role in reducing inflammation, promoting joint health and reducing the symptoms of gout and arthritis. So try an ounce of Cherry Harvest your body will thank you for it.

Tart Cherry Harvest

Michigan is the top tart cherry producer in the United States harvesting 75% of the nation’s tart cherry crop. These cherries do not normally make it to your local supermarket, mostly because the tart cherry crop is sent for processing into jams, jellies, pie filling and of course tart cherry juice concentrate. Scientific research suggests that enjoying a shot of tart cherry juice concentrate might help defuse arthritis pain. It is this overwhelming scientific evidence that compelled us at American Premium Blends to create Tart Cherry Harvest, our own proprietary blend of tart cherry juice that promotes the health benefits of tart cherry juice.

Samples are available at the studio, try a bottle the taste is great.

got poop?

If not, don’t be shy. You and your health are worth a bowel movement or two a day. You will smile more often….here’s where to begin:

1. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

2. Schedule appt for a colonic: 734-674-0922

3. For two to three days prior to your appt, eat lightly (i.e. fresh organic fruits, vegetables, and natural juices with low sugar conten)t. Avoid or minimize your intake of meat, dairy, and bread.

4. For two nights prior to appt, take some form of natural laxative. You can purchase these at your local health food store:

a. Cleansmore, by Renewlife (1 to 2 tablets before bedtime)

b. Swedish Bitters, by NatureWorks

c. Prunes and/or prune juice (double the amount suggested as a serving on label)
